Why can’t I find the right publisher for a journal in OpenAlex?
We link research outputs to their sources (e.g., journals) using metadata available in the output’s record (e.g., text describing journal or ISSN number). We then rely on the source’s metadata profile in ISSN to match to the correct publisher of that source.
For instance, the ISSN record for Ecology and Evolution shows that Wiley-Blackwell is the publisher, and so we were able to match that to our record for Wiley. Our records for funders are linked mostly to ROR records (though some were determined from Wikipedia records).
If you can’t find the right publisher for a journal in OpenAlex, try looking in Research Organization Registry (ROR) Search. If you can’t find it there, click ‘submit a request to add it’ at the top of the page.
If we got the Publisher wrong and you want to correct it, here are instructions on how to do that: How can I fix errors in an OpenAlex Source profile? – OpenAlex
